The Role
Working closely with the owners and kitchen leadership, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, helping drive consistency, quality and team performance.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading service and maintaining exceptional food standards
- Supporting menu development and seasonal specials
- Coaching, mentoring and developing the kitchen team
- Driving consistency, organisation and kitchen efficiency
- Managing ordering, stock control and food costs
- Maintaining a clean, well-structured and professional kitchen
- Leading by example and creating a positive team culture
- Preparing to step into the Head Chef role as part of the succession plan
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll have genuine influence over the kitchen, with a clear pathway to becoming Head Chef.
About You
We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys leading people just as much as they enjoy cooking.
You’ll likely bring:
- Experience as a Senior Sous Chef or established Sous Chef in a quality café, restaurant or premium hospitality venue
- Experience working in a quality-driven kitchen where consistency, organisation and teamwork are second nature
- A solid understanding of food costs, labour management and running an efficient kitchen
- Excellent organisation and service management skills
- A passion for fresh produce, quality food and continuous improvement
- Someone who leads by example and enjoys bringing the best out in others
