- Assistant Restaurant Manager role with a much-loved Sydney restaurant group
- Help open a new flagship CBD restaurant and build the team from day one
- Lead busy services in a premium venue with a strong food and wine focus
About the Venue
Picture the restaurant twenty minutes before the doors open. The open kitchen is coming to life. Pans are moving, the grill is firing up, and the aroma of fresh cooking drifts through the dining room. Your team is gathered for briefing, the reservations are full, and a large group is booked into the private dining room. Everyone is ready for a busy service ahead.
Then the doors open, and the restaurant comes alive. Tables fill, the bar is buzzing, and the floor is moving at pace. The energy is high, but everything feels under control because you’re leading the team, keeping the kitchen and floor in sync, and making sure service runs smoothly.
That’s the job.
A much-loved, family-owned Sydney restaurant group is opening a new flagship in the CBD. This group has been doing it properly for a long time. They care about great produce, cooking you can watch, and service that’s warm without being stiff. The new space is big and beautiful. It’s polished enough for a special night out and relaxed enough that people keep coming back.
They need two Assistant Restaurant Managers to help open it.
What You’ll Do
You’ll be the person the floor looks to on shift. You’ll run services, read the room, keep the pass and the floor in step, and jump into a section when it gets busy. Before opening you’ll help train the team on the menu, the wine and how service should feel, so the culture is right from the first night. After that it’s about the details: pacing, briefings, labour, upselling, and looking after regulars like they’re friends.
Who You Are
You’ve worked as an Assistant Restaurant Manager, Assistant Manager or Senior Supervisor in a premium, high-volume restaurant. You’re a hands-on leader who thrives on the floor, knows how to keep service running smoothly and stays calm when the pressure is on. You have a strong understanding of food and wine, communicate confidently with guests and lead by example. Your team respects you because you’re fair, approachable and always willing to step in when needed.
Experience with restaurant openings, private dining or formal wine training would be an advantage, but the right attitude, strong leadership and genuine passion for hospitality matter more.
