Overview

  • $95,000-$110,000 + super | Rotating five-day roster
  • Assistant GM to bring fresh ideas and grow local entertainment
  • Support the GM and develop leaders in a high-volume pub

You know what great hospitality looks like because you’ve experienced it across different venues. You’ve seen different systems, worked with different leadership styles and learned how to keep a substantial operation running without losing sight of the people.

Now, bring that experience to a role where you’ll support the General Manager, develop the team and introduce fresh ideas to grow the entertainment offering and keep guests coming back.

About the Venue

This established, high-volume hospitality destination brings together dining, bars, functions and entertainment for a broad local audience.

It’s a substantial, multi-faceted operation where busy services, community connection and memorable experiences all matter. From a relaxed meal to a lively night out, the challenge is to deliver consistently while finding fresh reasons for people to visit.

As Assistant GM/2IC, your role is to build on what’s already working—bringing practical ideas, broader industry experience and confident leadership to the next stage of the business.

The Role — Support, Develop, Drive

Working closely with the GM and alongside the existing leadership team, you’ll help drive day-to-day performance while developing the people who make it happen.

This is a hands-on senior role for someone who can move comfortably between leading a busy service, coaching a manager and contributing ideas that improve the business. You’ll know when to step in, when to give others ownership and how to introduce improvements collaboratively.

Your focus will be to:

  • Support the GM and lead from the floor. Help coordinate a complex, high-volume operation, maintain service standards and keep teams communicating effectively across the venue.
  • Develop confident leaders. Coach managers and supervisors, share practical experience and strengthen consistency, accountability and decision-making.
  • Bring a broader perspective. Draw on experience across different large-scale venues to identify useful improvements to systems, service routines and the guest experience.
  • Help grow the entertainment offering. Contribute to programming and delivery, bringing ideas that attract guests, encourage repeat visits and connect with the local community.
  • Keep commercial outcomes in view. Support effective rostering, cost awareness and revenue opportunities, while reviewing how entertainment and operational initiatives perform.

Entertainment Is a Key Part of the Opportunity

We’re particularly interested in someone who understands how entertainment can drive foot traffic, build customer loyalty and contribute to the success of a large venue.

You may have grown a live music offering, introduced popular recurring events or developed entertainment programmes that encouraged locals to return. Experience taking ideas from planning and promotion through to delivery and reviewing results will be highly regarded.

It’s not just about filling the calendar. It’s about knowing your audience, creating experiences that resonate and giving people a reason to keep coming back.

About You

You’ve held leadership roles across multiple large-scale hospitality venues, giving you exposure to different operating styles, systems and teams. That experience may come from successive venue roles or a multi-site environment; what matters is the perspective you bring.

You’re comfortable with volume and complexity, and you remain approachable and composed when the pressure builds. You can support a GM while taking ownership of your responsibilities, and you understand that strong leadership means developing others—not doing everything yourself.

You bring commercial awareness, sound judgement and a genuine interest in the guest experience. Just as importantly, you know how to introduce fresh ideas with respect for the people and practices already in place.

Experience delivering and growing entertainment programmes in large venues will be highly regarded.

Salary & Opportunity

The salary is approximately $95,000–$110,000 plus super, with a rotating five-day roster covering mornings, days and nights.

You’ll work closely with the GM in a substantial operation, with scope to contribute across team development, operating standards, entertainment and business performance.

This is an opportunity to use your broader experience to make a real impact beyond day-to-day operations.
