This is one of those places: a high-volume, well-loved destination that has been part of the Northern Beaches dining scene for years. With a fresh, modern coastal menu and an easygoing yet polished atmosphere, it’s the kind of venue locals proudly bring out-of-town guests to experience.

While the exact location is our little secret, think just beyond the buzz of Avalon, perched where the ocean meets the horizon. The venue’s recent rebuild has given it a fresh edge, with brand-new equipment, an open-plan kitchen, and a steady, loyal trade that swells with the summer season.

The Role

We’re seeking a Head Chef who can provide structure, energy, and clear leadership to a skilled, multicultural kitchen team. This is a hands-on role in a high-output environment, covering breakfast, lunch, and early dinners, along with the added excitement of weddings and functions during the warmer months.

You’ll work closely with the owners to evolve menus, refine processes, and build a more stable, full-time brigade ahead of the summer surge. With strong systems already in place, your focus will be on consistency, organisation, and nurturing the talent around you.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading a high-volume kitchen with breakfast, à la carte, and function service
  • Overseeing daily operations while maintaining quality and efficiency
  • Guiding a multicultural, multi-generational team with a calm, supportive approach
  • Managing prep flow, stock control, and seasonal menu development
  • Collaborating with ownership on creative dishes and special event menus
  • Preparing for a busy summer calendar, including weddings and private functions

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in high-volume, quality-focused kitchens
  • Strong skills in seafood, grill, and modern coastal or Asian-inspired flavours
  • A collaborative leadership style — hands-on, clear, and respectful
  • Confidence in systems, rostering, and cost control
  • Passion for training, mentoring, and team building
