Head chef role shaping a brand new Italian kitchen in Sydney CBD, weekdays only, up to $120k + super with creative control and a calm, no weekend culture.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership role from day one of a brand-new opening by a well-regarded operator. Located just off the Sydney CBD core, the venue is design-led, service-focused and built with intention. It features a beautifully functional open kitchen, premium casual dining, a stylish bar, and a curated takeaway offering.

Built for smooth operations, the space suits weekday dining, private events, and corporate functions. Supported by solid leadership and a focused vision, it offers a hospitality-driven setting that values steady guidance and high expectations.

The Food

Expect clean, seasonal Mediterranean dishes — house-made pasta, artisan pizzas, and familiar favourites served with finesse. The style is light, modern, and broadly appealing, without unnecessary complexity.

You will be encouraged to contribute creatively. Specials, tweaks and seasonal variations are all part of the rhythm. The owner is collaborative and values classic dishes done exceptionally well.

The Role

This is a genuine head-chef role with both operational control and creative influence. You’ll guide a focused kitchen team of 4–6, overseeing a single well-designed space that delivers multiple offerings. It suits someone who leads from the line, trains effectively, and maintains high standards under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service leadership and kitchen operations
  • Rosters, prep systems, ordering and supplier relations
  • Staff training and culture development
  • Regular menu development and seasonal specials
  • Ensuring a clean, calm and consistent service environment

The Offer

  • $110,000 to $120,000 plus Super (based on experience)
  • Approximately 45 hours per week, Mondays to Fridays only
  • Start Feb 2026 with involvement in pre-opening setup
  • Sponsorship and PR transfer available for the right candidate
