This role is based in Far North Queensland, with relocation support provided.

This is a rare opportunity to lead one of Queensland’s most ambitious and architecturally striking hospitality precincts. A premium, high-volume waterfront operation in Cairns built for scale, positioning and long-term growth.

We are seeking a serious operator. A visible, commercially sharp, culture-driving General Manager who knows how to run complex venues properly, and who wants to put their name to something significant.

The Venue

This landmark waterfront destination in Cairns is a high-volume, multi-venue operation designed to deliver premium offerings at scale, with strong capacity for continued growth.

  • Multiple distinct venues operating as one integrated business (with further outlets planned)
  • Designed for up to ~1,000 guests, with major peak days pushing 500+ covers

The development, design, and infrastructure are complete — the focus now is on delivering exceptional execution.

The Role

You will assume full operational leadership across the entire precinct, including:

  • Full P&L accountability and commercial performance (labour, COGS, margins, revenue optimisation)
  • Front and back of house leadership across a 70–100+ person team (mix of casual and permanent)
  • Partnering with the Executive Chef to drive kitchen performance, consistency and profitability
  • Service standards, guest experience, pace of trade and outlet alignment
  • Events, activations, entertainment and premium experiences that build reputation and revenue
  • Recruitment, training, mentoring and succession planning — building future leaders
  • Stakeholder management (ownership, suppliers, local partners and key relationships)
  • Systems, compliance, licensing and operational structure

This is a hands-on, floor-based leadership role. You will set the tone, drive the standard, and build accountability into the day-to-day.

About You

  • A proven General Manager (or senior multi-outlet Venue Manager) from a premium, high-volume environment
  • Experienced leading complex operations with multiple revenue streams
  • Commercially disciplined and financially literate — you know your numbers and act on them
  • Calm under pressure during major trade periods, with a consistent leadership presence
  • Strong in recruitment, mentoring and performance management
  • Structured, organised and detail-driven
  • Big on culture — and even bigger on accountability
  • Willing to relocate to Cairns for the right long-term opportunity

This role will not suit first-time GMs.
