The Venue

This Sydney landmark, a popular café, serves up to 600 covers on weekends. Recently renovated, it offers a modern reinterpretation of its concept, culture, and experience, embracing a philosophy of renewal—out with the old and in with the new!

Operating 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch, this venue is in a league of its own.

The Role

As the Venue Manager, you will take charge of operations, ensuring the delivery of first-class service. It’s a comprehensive role that combines all the essential elements of hospitality under one roof.

It’s about knowing what the customer wants and needs, before they even know. It’s training, leading and mentoring your equally passionate team to ensure the highest standards are met every time.

Essentially you must be an excellent communicator, both written and verbal. In addition, and given the nature of this role, you will need to have had strong experience in similar premium, high volume style venues.

You should also possess a grounded leadership style and be personable. It’s crucial that you are confident and at ease managing a large team, capable of motivating them and maintaining their composure during peak service times.

It is a service driven role, so you will be expected to get in there with the rest of the team and be quite hands on, as well as being admin savvy with rosters, cashing up, hiring and training staff and setting up SOP’s and sequences of service, handling function enquiries of up to 80 people and assisting with the execution of marketing promotions.

There is also an element of financials to the role, where you will be overseeing the forecasting, budgeting, labour costs and minor P&L’s, as well as daily cash up reports. These are skills you will already have or have had exposure to in other roles.

You will have complete autonomy in this position, requiring you to be highly organized and able to take initiative with minimal guidance. This role offers the chance to fully take charge of the venue with minimal oversight. While support is available when needed or requested, the responsibility ultimately rests with the venue manager.

Requirements

Ability to run a very busy and fast paced venue, being prepared to step in when required is a must. Ideally, you’ll have a cool temperament while maintaining happy staff and customers.

Personality: We’re seeking someone with a genuinely warm, engaging, and welcoming demeanor. The ideal candidate will be capable of making all guests feel at ease and eager to return time and time again.

This is a very open role for anyone who has the right attitude and enthusiasm to be a success. You will naturally come from a background of high-end restaurant management with a focus on customer experience, looking for a job that offers a chance to work autonomously like it’s your own venue, as well as an opportunity for work-life balance.

Having a presence on the floor is where you find yourself most drawn to. With a positive energy and stacks of confidence, you will lead the floor team by example.

The compensation package includes a salary of $95K + superannuation + tips. You’ll also enjoy a work-life balance with a 45-hour week, Sundays and Mondays off, and no evening shifts, wrapping up by 5:30 PM at the latest.
