The Role

This is a great roll for a current Junior Sous chef seeking development or an established Sous Chef looking for that next step. It will reward the right person with a highly organized and professional owners, in an environment that encourages knowledge, creativity and a go-getter attitude.

You’ll manage and motivate a small team on the Head Chef’s days off, ensuring the high level of service expected by guests. This hands-on role requires working closely with the team and running services. Staff training, some admin tasks, specials, and menu design are also key aspects of the position.

The Required Experience

Previous experience working in busy and good quality Indian venue is preferred but not essential. Ideally, you’ll be someone who always remains calm in any situation and is a natural motivator.

Preferably, you’ll have 1-2 years of management experience as a Jr. Sous or Sous Chef. This role suits a career-driven, focused chef with excellent natural leadership skills.

All the systems and procedures are already set up; however, the company wants someone with experience and maturity to come in, who can establish leadership and assist the head chef with running service and training junior staff.

The ideal candidate is:

  • Creative and in touch with food trends
  • Strong understanding of traditional and regional Indian flavours and techniques
  • Someone who thinks outside of the box when it comes to implementing new systems in the kitchen and making sure all the chefs maintain it
  • A chef who is always on the ball and a forward thinker. Always 2 steps ahead of what is going to happen next. A problem solver!
  • Highly organized and can maintain high consistency in service and prep
  • Can create a calm and collaborative energy with their staff and not get frustrated in stressful situations

On Offer

A salary of up to $80K+S. Expect 42-45 hours per week with an option for a 4-day workweek.
