Senior Sous Chef – Up to $90K+S+Tips, Brand New Kitchen, Creative Role

The Property

A brand new property where you’ll be proud to be a part of. As sous chef, you’ll have the perfect platform to showcase your creativity with specials and input on the menu.

This is a 60-seat restaurant with a stylish new fit-out, a stunning new kitchen, close to public transport, generous and passionate owners and a big chance to put your name on it.

This is a smart casual venue where locals can enjoy cocktails, bar snacks, share plates and more substantial menu items! The menu will be Italian / Mediterranean influence with a focus on share plates and fresh pasta.

The Role

The client is looking for someone coming from a technical background moving up the ranks as a Jr Sous or Sous and wanting a change of scenery. The chef will be running a small team of 3-5 chefs and KP’s.

What the client is looking for:

  • Hatted experience in a mid to senior role (CDP or Sous)
  • Someone who has a drive for excellence and wants to push the boundaries with cooking from local produce
  • Good mentor and guidance with their team
  • Problem solver and dynamic

You’ll be required to oversee the daily operations of the kitchen with support, reporting to the Head Chef and owners on a daily and weekly basis.  The successful candidate will be a natural leader, someone who can inspire and motivate in equal measure, as well as a person who enjoys what they do, a positive person who likes to have fun at work. Surely not a place for a “Gordon Ramsey”.

A background of high quality service, a culture of professional attitudes where the staff are well informed and have passion for the brand would be ideal.

Aside from running day-to-day operations, other duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Hands-on with prep, service and running dockets
  • Rosters and team management
  • Menu designing and coming up with specials
  • Running to Food and Labour %’s
