Overview

A well-established café and one of Sydney’s most recognized is hiring a head chef. With fun, friendly, and genuine owners and team.

The Venue

This is undoubtedly one of the most well-known and famous cafés in Sydney, particularly in the southern Sydney area. They currently have two venues and are a constantly developing and expanding business.

It pumps on the weekend but serves a loyal and local clientele all week.

This busy venue prides itself on serving on-trend, restaurant quality food with a chef owner who is very passionate and knows good food, with it also being a fun and friendly place to work.

The Team

This role reports to the owner who is a very down to earth operator and someone who is big on empowerment and supporting their staff.

It’s a team of 4-5 chefs and a kitchen hand on every service.

The Role

You will be focused on the day-to day running of the kitchen alongside the Management team and taking full responsibility of the kitchen operations, driving menu creativity and mentoring the kitchen team.

The role itself is fast paced and hands on, ensuring all prep and organization is ready for the busy day ahead, checking in with junior chefs, and keeping them motivated throughout.

You’ll be a collaborative, active, quick-thinking individual who values great cuisine and pays close attention to detail. The café has a loyal following; therefore, customer service is at the heart of all they do.

There is also the admin side, including rostering, ordering and being across food and labour cost. Plenty of support from the owners on this aspect of the role.

The Candidate

You’ll be an organized Head Chef looking for a lifestyle change from working nights.  At least several years of management experience, with a can-do attitude, used to a fast-paced environment and a commitment to high standards of food would be ideal. Moreover, a restaurant background, with a strong understanding of quality produce and technique, but being adaptable in a fast-paced café environment.

The salary for this position is $100-105K+super for the right candidate.  There will also be flexibility with the roster for rotating weekend days off for the whole team.
