The Venue and Area

The venue capacity is around 200-250 seated, and will increase in size in the future. It’s a local and community hub with a focus on sporting groups, and all around classic offering, with a pumping bar, bistro, and solid gaming presence in the business. The strong head chef runs the show with a great background of running kitchens in the South Coast. The chef takes full ownership of food and is passionate about what they do.

The venue is in a beautiful area close to Jervis Bay and St George’s Basin. It’s only a 20-minute drive to Nowra, a 55-minute drive to Kiama, and a 35-minute drive to Ulladulla. The area is beautiful and scenic, with a laid back lifestyle – a change of pace and sea change. It’s a very popular fishing spot and there’s a huge range of water sports. The beach, rivers and lakes are a big appeal to the locals. For accommodation, there are suburbs close by that are reasonably priced. There is also a range of public and high schools around.

It’s a locals driven pub. Regulars come in all year round with then a push for tourist season. They maintain close relationships with the local community. They host various groups and organisations throughout the week who can use the space, including fishermen’s clubs, golf clubs, sporting groups, youth, and more.

The Structure

There is a lot of support available to you, but the owners are really looking for someone who wants to take the reins of the venue and is able to run it themselves. The owners have a strong background in business and hospitality.  They live around Wollongong and know the area well. While they will be there for support, meetings, strategy planning, you need to want to run the ship and drive the business. Also, additional support comes from two strong managers underneath you in the role. Both are well versed in the venue and will make it an easy transition period as you start.

We need hands-on leaders – general managers who want to lead from the front. While you get a mix of admin time for your reports, business development time, budgeting, forecasting, etc, we are after leaders who will get involved, work with the teams of staff and security and build relationships with the customers.

The Perks

We have launched a D.A for a huge expansion and renovation. This is an opportunity to be involved with the expansion and get to put your stamp on the direction. The renovation is going to take the venue to be a destination pub in the area. There are no close pubs in the area, and it is a beautiful location surrounded by peninsula, so the owners are excited by the prospect.

There is also a competitive salary on offer with a KPI-driven bonus scheme, the base being up to $100K+S for a strong experienced Licensee.
