A well-known restaurant located in the heart of the CBD and is a Sydney institution is looking for a Head Sommelier or Wine Bar Manager. The venue is classically styled with a definite contemporary European theme and quality fit out.
They are open Mondays to Saturdays, with Sundays off. The clientele are mostly corporate and a lot of very loyal regulars. They offer excellent and warm service and are run by passionate and friendly owners.
The environment is highly professional, and you’ll have the chance to work within a very rewarding company. You’ll be working with an award-winning wine list, over 300 bins, a mixture of European classics with New World contemporaries.
As head sommelier or wine bar manager, you’ll be responsible for all the purchasing and COGs, as well as stock control. The position will also require a significant amount of in-house training where you’ll be expected to teach and mentor the floor team.

If you have the right attitude and the enthusiasm to be a success, this role is open for you. A basic requirement is a strong background on wine. You are either a junior sommelier looking for that step up or a current head sommelier looking for a job that offers work-life balance.
Because you’ll need to host and float the wine bar and restaurant floor in addition to wine duties, having floor/bar management experience is ideal. Also essential is having a positive energy and load of confidence. A good sense for business is also required because you’ll be responsible for budgeting, stock control and ordering.
