The Venue

This is a Sydney institution, a well-known venue located in the heart of the CBD. You’ll be working with an award-winning wine list, a mixture of European classics with New World contemporaries as well as a dedicated sake list.

This is a fun and energetic venue that needs a similar personality to join the team.

The Role

As Head Sommelier, you’ll be an extension of the group sommelier. You’ll be responsible for the wine program within the venue, ordering wines and liaising with reps, stocktakes and training, all while maintaining a first-class style of service on the floor.

This is a chance for a strong Sommelier to step up and take the reins, It’s all about leading from the front and being a strong presence on the floor, yet very organised with admin as this ship will be yours to steer. Of course, there will be some assistance from the group Sommelier if needed.

In addition to this, we are looking for someone who really embodies “hospitality” and creates that sense of warmth and inviting atmosphere.

The Required Experience

Ideally, you’ll have a presence on the floor, positive energy and stacks of confidence. It’s a big venue, so you’ll need to be very organised and able to keep up with the busy services.

Also, you’ll be someone who always remains calm in any situation and is a natural motivator and of course has a passion for wine!

Exceptional wine knowledge is key to this role. Furthermore, good sake knowledge and understanding, as well as great organisational skills and communication skills.

Salary range is up to $90K+ Super + Tips, depending on experience, plus a work-life balance of less than 50 hours a week.
