The Property

This is a great venue that has “Many Faces”. It is a mix of clientele of white-collar, blue Collar, families through to local 20 something’s out for their big night out on a Saturday night.

Understanding this mix of people and what they are all looking for has really helped their venues figures grow over the last two years.  We are looking for a GM that continue this and take it up a notch.

The Venue is in excellent condition, it has a beautiful and very busy beer garden, high turnover Public Bar (that has a great vibe), as well as a Bistro that is doing well and just about start work on tweaking their offering. This venue also does well in gaming and this area has already had a facelift.

The Role

The role is not reinventing the wheel, what is different however is the level of support and access to knowledge you will get from the Group Operations manager. He is a good guy and a really supportive and communicative and from a strong ops background himself. So he knows “what’s what” and is in a good position to support this person.

The team is one of the best things about this role. They are hard-working, fun and take pride in the venue.  So in looking for the right GM/Licensee and I guess that is a pretty good guide to some of the attitudes and qualities that we are after.

Being hands-on and with the guys on some of the busy periods is essential. The team knowing they have your support and you are with them in the business is crucial to getting the support of the team and be able to lead them effectively.  We want someone who wants to be a part of the venue and really understand it.

That said to be on top of all you need to be on top there is admin etc., so as a guide the role would be about 65% hands-on and 35% office work.

The role oversees the key areas of the business, bar/bistro, kitchen, gaming and events etc. You will have all the usual General Manager responsibilities of running a multi-million-dollar business; compliance, stock control, budgets, forecasting and staffing.  You’ll have great support from head office as well as from the team, many have been there for some time.

Required Experience

This role is perfect for an experienced operator, someone who is looking for a work-life balance in a smaller, more local establishment.  You’ll come from a strong gaming background; this is a key area for the business and one they are looking to expand over the next 12 months.

Knowledge with driving sales in the bar, bistro and working with a mixed clientele will also be highly advantageous.  Ideally, you’ll come from a true hospitality background, someone who can lead from the front and grow the business with a sense of pride.

The Hours

Your hours will be around 50 per week, of course, more when you start but this is s guide to what the last person was doing.  Our clients are offering an excellent package for the right candidate with the potential to have paid parking & tolls. It is also possible to get most Sundays off but business dependent of course.*
