It’s a modern well-equipped restaurant with a very stable kitchen brigade with incredible owners that look after their staff. With a stunning fit out that makes it one of the best in the area. They are market leaders and a destination in the South West of Sydney. Covers 100 on a busy night, and about 40 mid-week.
You will be comfortable with all areas of the kitchen. While the restaurant is modern Asian, there are a lot of western techniques used so you don’t need to be David Thompson to apply for this. The main thing is a technically proficient chef (in Asian or fine dining) with a passion for Asian cuisine. There is a very strong mentor that can help you to fine tune your skills. If you have some Asian cuisine experience all the better.
People Skills and Leadership
We are looking for someone who is a calm, intelligent Sous Chef who leads from the front and can effectively communicate with all types of people. This is an established kitchen and business that is running well so we are looking for a “slowly slowly” approach to any change. Calm and controlled, no yelling and screaming in this kitchen.
The mentor is a well-known and high profile Chef. Teaching you about the finer points of Asian cuisine, people management and how to run not only the numbers side of things but as well as the business side.
As an indication, the salary on offer is between $70K-80K+S dependent on experience, generally looking at a 42-45 hour week and 5 weeks of holiday.
